Middle East Region Assistant Historian (A6PA)

 Closeout Date: 30 March 2018 

 Summary:  The Assistant Historian reports to MER Historian and assists with compiling the annual region history report, assisting wings or squadrons with compiling reports as needed, and mentoring new CAP Historians.

 Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with compiling the annual region history report
  • Assist in developing policies and procedures that relate to historical activities
  • Assist in establishing and conducting a program for the publishing of general and special histories, monographs, studies, and similar works for issue both internally and externally to CAP
  • Assist in establishing and conducting a program to specifically inform the general public as to the history of CAP as it relates to CAP’s current missions
  • May assist in issuing bibliographies, catalogs, indices, and abstracts containing information relative to publications relating to CAP history
  • May establish and conduct a program of the collection and preservation of items of historical significance either of a documentary or physical property nature
  • May establish and conduct or assist in establishing and conducting an oral history program
  • May representing the Civil Air Patrol at meetings of historical and other learned societies
  • Other related duties as required

 Desired Qualifications:

  • Senior Rating in the Historian Specialty Track
  • Thorough Knowledge of the CAP historical program

Middle East Region Deputy Chief of Staff Aerospace Education Assistant Historian (A7A)

Closeout Date: 16 March 2018 

Summary:  The incumbent directs the Aerospace Education program at MER.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implement aerospace education (AE) policy and advise the commander on status of AE programs under his/her command.
  • Monitor AE requirements from NHQ/AE to ensure compliance.
  • Solicit the submission of AE Awards from wings including: Brewer Awards, AE Mission Awards, AEO of the Year Award, AFA CAP AE Cadet of the Year and AE Teacher of the Year Award.
  • Monitor and recruit director for MER AE School.
  • Establish and review MER AE budget requirements.
  • Encourages wing interest in the Teacher Orientation Program (TOP) Flights.
  • Ensure that AE staff positions are filled at MER and associated wings. When necessary, recruit, train and assist wing DAEs and maintain a current roster of Wing DAEs.
  • Monitor Wing AE Plans of Action.
  • Regularly update MER commander on the progress of the AE Plan of Action.
  • Monitor wing end-of-year AE Activity Reports.
  • Visit and/or communicate with subordinate units.
  • Other related duties as required.

  • Master in Aerospace Education Specialty Track 215
  • Served as a wing DAE

Middle East Region Assistant Director of Information Technology

 Closeout Date: 31 March 2018

Summary:  Reports to the MER Director of Information Technology (A6I).  Handles all aspects of information technology for the region, including Middle East Region staff support, web and e-mail hosting, web conferencing, and support of subordinate wings.  Candidates should be familiar with appropriate CAP regulations, directives, publications and texts related to information technology. Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 is desired, but not required. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in information technology, a good bedside manner, and availability to work some problems over the phone. Senior members and responsible cadets are encouraged to apply.
